Raising awareness of essential tremor

IMG 8128The NTF are hosting their Essential Tremor Open Day on March 17th in Oxford, as part March Essential Tremor Awareness Month.

The event, held at Holiday Inn, Woodstock Road, Oxford, starts at 12-midday and will allow people to learn more about essential tremor and the NTF. During the event there will be speakers from Gyro Gear, who are working on a device to help stabilise hand tremors; and INSIGHTEC the makers of new neurological disorder surgery, called focused ultrasound treatment.

March Essential Tremor Awareness Month or National Essential Tremor Awareness month as it is known in the USA, was started by the International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF) to raise awareness of Essential Tremor and has since been growing from strength to strength.

Matthew Walker, UK Manager, from INSIGHTEC, said: “INSIGHTEC is honoured to be part of the Essential Tremor open day and proud to be supporting awareness events for Essential Tremor.”

Nadya Paleyes, Head of Marketing, from GyroGear, said: “This our third year at an NTF Awareness Open Day, and we are happy to see it growing and more people becoming aware of Essential Tremor.”

Jackie Farrell, NTF Support Group Coordinator, said: “After last year’s success, this year promises to be even bigger. I am looking forward to welcoming visitors and providing the opportunity for people learn about essential tremor and support groups.”

Kevin Harfoot, NTF Chairman, said: “I am pleased to see March Essential Tremor Awareness month growing from strength to strength. The awareness day itself is a day that is increasing in popularity and stature year on year. It is so pleasing to see so many people wanting to get involved in finding out more about this little known condition and in raising awareness across the UK.”
