We have been made aware of an ongoing supply issue affecting Propranolol Long-Acting (LA) formulations. Current indications suggest this disruption may continue until July 2026.

What this means for patients

If you are taking Propranolol LA for tremor and are unable to obtain your medication, you should contact your GP or prescribing clinician. In many cases, patients may be advised to switch to an immediate-release form of Propranolol at an equivalent daily dose. This will require the total daily dose to be split into two doses.

Example dose conversions

  • Propranolol LA 80mg once daily → Propranolol 40mg twice daily (morning and evening)
  • Propranolol LA 160mg once daily → Propranolol 80mg twice daily (morning and evening)

Important information

  • Do not change your medication without speaking to your GP or pharmacist
  • Ensure you understand your new dosing schedule if switched
  • If you experience any side effects or concerns, seek medical advice promptly
