West Midlands support group organiser Guy reflects on the West Midlands Shakers June meet-up held

The West Midlands Shakers group met in Sutton Coldfield on 24th June, with numbers affected a little by the blistering heat and last-minute NHS appointments. At least the air conditioning in the venue was working beautifully.

Group leader, Guy, gave a brief summary of the NTF national conference in Newcastle, which had taken place just a week after the group’s previous meeting. He also brought along some aids for discussion: a one-handed tray, which allows the user to carry (for example) multiple drinks without spills and still have a spare hand for doors, bannisters and/or a walking stick; Logitech’s ergonomic mouse, of which two of the group took a sample each to try; and a Beechband, which elicited considerable interest.

There was the usual valuable sharing of experiences and coping tips that are one of the main purposes of these get-togethers, and our combined entrepreneurial brain power was put to developing a pill which could mimic the tremor-dampening effects of a small amount of alcohol without the subsequent rebound tremors. We agreed the pill should come in various flavours (chablis, rioja, etc) and should be dissolved in water before taking…!

We look forward to getting together again in September, date tba.
