A Consultation By NHS England On MR Guided Focused Ultrasound For People With Essential Tremor
This is clearly a very challenging time for us all due to Covid-19 and we hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well. The National Tremor Foundation is here to help and we are providing online meet up sessions so that people with Essential Tremor can meet up online and keep in contact and make new friends. We hope you can join one of our sessions and further details are available here.
One of our sessions recently covered a consultation in the form of an online survey launched last month by the NHS in England asking people’s views about MR Guided Focused Ultrasound – or transcranial Magnetic Resonance Guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) to give it the long winded proper name! - being available to patients on the NHS. Despite the challenging times we currently live in, we had a good response from people taking part in the session wanting to find out more about how they could get involved in the campaign.
The consultation is an opportunity for the public (us!) to comment on the draft commissioning policy on the use of MRgFUS for the treatment of medication refractory Essential Tremor, that the NHS intends to make a final policy in the Summer. The deadline for the online survey to be completed is 12th April. The NTF have been closely involved with the campaign over many months and despite the current challenges we all face, we remain as committed as ever for a better future for all people who live with ET.
