Jackie Farrell who leads the Sutton Shakers reflects on their July meetup

The group met on Friday 1st July at Holiday Inn, Sutton, Greater London with 18 attendees including three new people. Apologies from four who were unable to attend.

The meetup was very informative with members sharing their experiences. Stephanie has now received her PIP and thanked Paul for his encouragement in applying.

“I can now write reasonably well and type faster

I can peel a potato, chop onions and use tools like a drill again.

I just want to say that in my case it's been life changing. I still have to remember to use the left hand more and my wife keeps reminding me to do so. The only downside is that I have to do certain things I could ask her to do when I had the tremor!”

All agreed that support groups give people the opportunity to learn about their conditions, chat to people with similar problems, compare notes and pass on helpful hints and tips in a welcoming environment. They are not only about supporting one another, but also about having fun and making new friends.

Next Sutton Shakers will at the Holiday Inn, SM1 2RF, 10.45am 9th September, when we will have a guest speaker from Sutton Carers.
