Jackie Farrell who leads Sutton Shakers Support group arranged something different for their October meetup, a visit to Westminster for a Parliamentary tour. Jackie reflects on the day:

Our visit took place on Friday 13th, which maybe unlucky for some, but not for Sutton Shakers! The weather forecast warning of heavy rain and strong gusty winds didn’t materialize and we had sun, no rain and most of all a great tour full of fun and facts.

OscarOscar shared many historical facts including some quirky ones.

Our guide was Oscar Gomez Reaney who has Essential Tremor and works at the Houses of Parliament. Oscar was fantastic and shared with us many historical facts including some quirky ones. The icing on the cake was when he took us to St James Terrace, an area not officially on any tours. He called a colleague over to us who happened to also be on the Terrace, it was the Parliamentary Assistant to the Prime Minister. I took the opportunity to explain we were a group of people who had Essential Tremor and had he heard of it, which he promptly said 'he hadn't'. We took the opportunity to hand him an NTF Essential Tremor leaflet!!! He seemed genuinely interested. We'll never know the journey of that ET leaflet but wouldn't it be amazing if it finds its way to the Parliamentary office! Moral of this story is always carry an NTF leaflet just in case!!! Thank you, Oscar from ‘Sutton Shakers’ for an amazing informative tour.

Our next meetup will be Friday 1st December at Holiday Inn, Sutton, SM1 2RF
