Salisbury Shakers December meet-up
Salisbury support group organiser Sheelagh Wurr reflects on the Salisbury Shakers December meet-up.
A new restaurant in Salisbury called Charlie’s was the venue for the Salisbury Shakers’ lunch on Saturday.
Charlie’s has a wide and varied menu, an excellent chef and is staffed by attentive and endlessly patient young Turkish women.
Several tables were arranged so that we could all sit together and eleven of us enjoyed a delicious lunch and were well looked after.
Despite us spilling a cup of coffee and a glass of water, spreading plenty of food over the table and using up all the paper serviettes for somebody’s nosebleed, the young women looking after us continued to smile and, as we were preparing to leave they brought us three plates of baklava to round off our meal. They even asked when we were planning to come again.
The manager came long during the meal and asked if he could take a photo of us all for his website.
Before the meal, several members visited to St Thomas’s church to see their extremely impressive Christmas Tree Festival.
All in all, it was a very happy day and we shall certainly visit Charlie’s again.
We plan to hold our first meeting of the New Year on Saturday 13th January. This will probably take place in our usual venue, St Thomas’s, but I will confirm in January.
