Salisbury Shakers February meet-up
Salisbury support group organiser Sheelagh Wurr reflects on the Salisbury Shakers February meet-up.
Twelve members attended our meeting today. We welcomed two new shakers - Stephanie who comes from Milton on Sea in Hampshire and John, all the way from Poole. It was good to meet John’s wife, Audrey as well.
It was a lively meeting and the discussion ranged from the upcoming conference in Bristol which several members plan to attend, to the GKA research project in which three members of our group are taking part. Others applied but were told that all the places were filled.
We talked about ‘how to do’ various tasks. John says he takes an apron if he eats out. We thought a flamboyant apron was an excellent idea! (Maybe we should have a competition to see who can produce the best?)
Some people have trouble controlling a mouse on the computer screen and Andrew had a good tip for that. If you set the font to a much larger size than you need, the pointer becomes bigger and easier to control. When you have finished, you highlight the document and adjust the font to how you want it. I am doing it now and it works!
All in all, a good meeting, although I sadly forgot to take a photo. Sorry!
I promised to send the link to the programme for the Bristol event so here it is.
Don’t forget, if you are planning to attend, you need to book.
Our next meeting will take the form of a lunch at Charlie’s again. It will be on 2nd March. (Sorry Janet and others who cannot make it.) I have booked us in for 12.00. Nearer the time, I will ask you to confirm so that I can let Charlie’s know how many are coming.
It was suggested that we bring diaries on that day and try to book some dates for a few future meetings, so that people have more notice.
