Salisbury Shakers May meet-up
Salisbury support group organiser Sheelagh Wurr reflects on the Salisbury Shakers meet-up held on 17th May.
Nine members met in St Thomas’s this morning. We were nearly ten as a lady called Chloe, drinking coffee nearby, thought she would like to join us as we were such a friendly group. She was disappointed to learn that, although she was very welcome, she really needed a bit of a tremor to qualify!
Sheelagh reported that Pam and Dave were absent because poor Dave had had a nasty (non -tremor-related) accident. The group suggested sending a card which we will do, as soon as I can obtain his address.
Several members reported that they had completed the Essential Tremor Priority Setting Partnership survey and some members were aware of the Webinar taking place this coming Thursday, 22nd May. Here is the link as promised.
Andrew mentioned Our Future Health which is the UK’s largest ever health research project. This is about general health, not specifically tremor, but looks interesting. The link is ourfuturehealth.org.uk.
Members updated us about their various consultations etc since we last met.
Stephanie reported that wearing her sunflower lanyard when travelling had been extremely useful as she was offered lots of help by many different people. Sheelagh reported that, on the other hand, whilst in Scotland and happening to become involved in a group discussion about hidden disabilities, nobody in her group had heard of the sunflower symbol!
It has been suggested that people might find it useful to have some future meeting dates in the diary. Also, it might be a good idea to approach Mr Vajramani again and offer him some definite dates. The dates are as follows: June 21st, July 19th, August 30th, September 27th, November 8th and either December 6th or 13th. (the December dates are provisional for now) All these have been confirmed by St Thomas’s.
(Sadly, we forgot about taking a photo – sorry!)
