Salisbury support group organiser Sheelagh Wurr reflects on the Salisbury Shakers May meet-up.

Twelve members of the Salisbury Shakers held a very interesting meeting on Saturday.

One of our number, Moira, had recently celebrated a major birthday and our meeting began with a rendering of Happy Birthday and a slice of home-made birthday cake.

Someone showed us a sunflower lanyard (to wear for ‘non visible’ disabilities) and we discussed wearing it with a National Tremor card.  It was then suggested that, with permission, we could redesign the card so that it included ‘Salisbury Shakers’ and maybe a QR code to enable people to access the NTF quickly.  Andrew, who is good at technology, might be able to help us with this and Sheelagh (ie me!) will discuss with NTF to see what they think.  As the group has been given £50 for taking part in some research, this could go towards purchasing lanyards for everyone.

We discussed problems arising from drinking too much alcohol, experiences being referred to a neurologist and Mary and Sheelagh gave updates on their experiences with the Gyroglove.

Sue and Chris have purchased a Vilim Ball (not sure about spelling) and explained how they were trying it out and monitoring progress.

It was an enjoyable meeting with lots of lively discussion.

The next meeting is provisionally booked for 29th June.  However, the parish office is closed until June 10thso I may not be able to confirm until after that date.  I suggest that we meet then anyway, and if the room is not free we could go out to lunch instead?
