Sutton Shakers Meet-up Group in July
Jackie Farrell who leads the Sutton Shakers reflects on their July meetup
Altogether fifteen of the Sutton Shakers met on 14th July at Holiday Inn, Sutton where we welcomed two new members. We were all delighted the same seating area as at our previous meetup had been reserved for our group by the staff who were helpful and attentive.
Lots of social chat and banter made it a warm, friendly and informal meetup.
It is estimated that 60% of Essential Tremor cases are hereditary. With this in mind, we held an interesting experiment to find out how many of those present with Essential Tremor had hereditary ET. Result: 60% had hereditary ET! This is the fourth time I’ve tried this experiment at different meetups and each time the result was between 50-60%. It would be interesting to try this on a larger scale in the future.
I shared with the group that an opportunity has arisen to arrange a Parliamentary guided tour and asked if there was any interest. I’m pleased to say the response was an overwhelming “Yes”. We are looking forward to put this in place in the near future.
We look forward to the next meetup date TBC.
